Timeline
According to the oldest record known to us Herberichs have been living in Lengfurt since at least 1506. Already in that year there were 4 male members of the family living in the village, most likely most of them did also have family. The below timeline shows the most important dates in our history in Lengfurt. With the progress of our research this timeline will change and grow.

A tax-list, which was created during the reign of count Eberhard I of Wertheim does not list any Herberichs in Lengfurt. We can think of the following possibilities:

1489 |
In the ancient chronicles of Lengfurt the Herberichs are listed in several variations of spellings of their name. They can be found in an inhabitants list dated 1489. |

1525/1526 |
The peasant's war is raging in Franconia. The people of Lengfurt stay loyal to count Michael of Wertheim. They even provide him shelter when he has to flee from a raging mob. The count thanks his loyal subjects by relieving them from all labour and duties due to be provided to him. The villagers of Lengfurt do even get their own right to hunt and a village-crest. The Herberichs did of course also profit from these favours. |

Georg or Jörg Herberich, the first Herberich of whom we have birth- and death dates, is born. |

6. Oktober 1612 |
On this date the first entry into the Parish Records of Lengfurt was made by Jodocus Wagenhauer. At that time the black death is running rampant in Lengfurt. On October 6th there are 7 people of Lengfurt reported dead. Four of them are Johann juniors wife and his 3 children. |

1618 |
The Defenestration of Prague is the opening of 30 years of warfare in Europe.War and diseases eliminate whole populations and vilages in our area. The population of Lengfurt - including the Herberich family - gets nearly wiped out. |

1632 |
According to oral tradition by 1632 only 5 families were left in Lengfurt*. This is another very significant date, as in this year the remaining families of Lengfurt swore an oath and since then they celebrate Sebastian's saints-day. Obviously the Herberichs were one of these 5 families and are therefore a founder-family of this tradition. Even today the inhabitants of Lengfurt celebrate with pride this tradition at the weekend closest to Saint Sebastian's day. |

Michael Herberich moves into his house onto which he attaches his family-crest. |

1728 |
The Obelisk of the Holy Trinity is being built. Johann Josef von Neuff, knight in shining armour and son of Lengfurt is the founder of this obelisk, two other statues and other less visible goods and favours for the villagers of his birth-place. Anna Maria Herberich was the siter-in-law of Johann Josef von Neuff. |

Today |
500 years after the first written proof of Herberichs in Lengfurt there are still decendants of Johann junior living in Lengfurt. In the 20th century these Herberichs have spread out beyond their base in Lengfurt and have now settled towns and cities in Germany, Europe and the USA. |
